Martial Arts Olympics -- "East-West Open"

From April, 20 till April, 22, 2007 in Saint Petersburg there passed Martial Arts Olympics "East-West Open". To look at this bright event for three days came more than thirty thousand spectators. Its carrying out was logical continuation of a fifteen-year history of the International Martial Arts Festival " Sports Russia ". Olympics has collected more than six thousand participants from thirty one countries of the world.
We have not changed long-term tradition. And this time after many thousands parade colourful budo-show, and this time on twenty five tatamies, platforms, rings and dodyangs has been submitted awards in 660 nominations by 26 kinds of the program are played: to three karate versions , to duels in free style, wushu, to two taekwon-do versions, kobu-do, to fighting sambo-wrestling, a throwing of knifes, kum-do, the Greeco-Roman wrestling and grappling.

There are more than awards: Smirnova Darya - republic Karelia USHU team - 8 nominations - 6 gold and 2 silver medals;

The biggest team - SEIBUKAN team , Great Novgorod - 76 person;

The youngest participant - Melkosebekyans Artem - 6 years, V. Tsoy Academy team, Saint Petersburg;;

The most "mature" Russian participant - Loginov Gennady - 66 years, USHU Club "Ulunmyen" team, Saint Petersburg;

The most "mature" foreign participant - Shannon Penn - 72 years, the USA team;

The World recordis established and registered: Sedyshev Michael - a throwing of a knife, a distance - 5 meters, "Iron Age" team Samara - Minsk.

The emblem of the Olympics which was seen by winners of all age on the medals, rather precisely transfers that, what for all of us do make it: the globe surrounded with a black belt - a symbol of spiritual perfection and the skill, uniting people of good will of all countries.
